Food Pantry
Our next unit focuses on important places in our community and we are going to visit the local food pantry. It is located off of Rt. 4 in Sunderland. The boys will be able to see what goes on behind the scenes when they see all of those End Hunger signs in their school and around the county. They will assist the pantry team in preparing groceries and they will learn about the pantry and why it is important. It will probably be a Wednesday night in November so please look at your calendars now and let us know if there are conflicts for particular nights.

Using What You Learn
This came across my news feed today and I thought it was pretty cool. You never know - one day your son maybe using that first aid kit that Jacob's dad helped the kids prepare in a real emergency!
Taylor Reed will receive a National Medal of Merit for applying first aid to his mother after she was attacked by a pit bull. Taylor’s training in Scouting helped him to be prepared for this emergency. Today, he will be recognized at the Fall Court of Honor in Whitefish, Montana. Congratulations, Taylor.

Family Campout
We would like to take the boys camping and it looks like Duncan Campground in Lothian has some cool weekend themes. Perhaps we can look at a camp out in June. We can chat about it in the meeting, but here is the site so you can check it out.

Snow Tubing
We added a January 8th date to go tubing at Ski Liberty which is only about an hour or so from DC. We wanted to get a date on the calendar since it would be a weekend trip. I think the boys will be excited.
